"Herding" is the ANKC sport, or the recreational fun-type activity- we didn't do much of that sort of thing. Did do a little bit of training with Mud (who is sore today), the girlies (who were good- Zig nervous, Pink puppyish), Bill (much better for Richard- little sod) and Fly (feral hell bitch), plus had a look at Sally, Gus, Tama, Queani, Diva (ex-Dot), etc.
And then we took Jack for a run beside the quad bike, with Bill and Lethal and Ziggy, and stopped to move some sheep into another paddock. Jack absolutely loves this, its the highlight of his life (even if he gets tired and needs to ride). I didn't think Ziggy would be able to run that fast for that long, but she was fine- kept letting Bill getting ahead and then speeding past him, laughing over her shoulder. She's really an adorable little sprog.
Aw, its not meant like that- its just no-one with working dogs says "herding" 'round here. You don't go out to "herd a mob up to the yards" etc, it kind of has a nerdy city-dog ring to it, makes me cringe a bit. We do go "herding", when we do ANKC stuff, but that's the only time!
Trading peaceful
city existence for one farmer, two kids and an armful of chaos on a few thousand hectares somewhere in the South.
Featuring Farmboy, The Ginger Biscuit and the Mac's sheepdog crew.
