What's new?

Recent updates:

The Royal: including a clip of Fred

The Maggots- Finbar, Harry, JJ and Elvis
Their pedigree here:

Esme- We've started clicker training with Es and Tom, but she's the worst shark EVER. It looks and feels like my hand has been through a mincer. What to do?

What else?

Farmboy continues to grow (up and out)- still not talking much (English, anyway) but making new discoveries and new leaps in ability every day. I finally caved and had his hair cut (goodbye golden ringlets- sob!). Book of the week: The Bunyip of Berkely's Creek.

Work is the same old story- keeping me busy and next year I'll be studying too, so even busier.

Sheepdog stuff- we'll miss Margaret River (going to the polocrosse nationals instead) but hopefully will get to Ongerup (25-28th October) and Albany (7-8th November)- both unofficial 3sheep trials, maybe good opportunities to run some new or out of practise dogs. The State 3sheep was a great trial (I'll have to do a report and put up some pics later)- we didn't have much success but I was happy with Pinky, Bill and Queani. Mayanup was more successful for me, and R had some nice work from his youngsters (Bella and Murphy).

Check back here for updated posts on both Mayanup and the States.

The farm: we've finished crutching, just in time because a few sheep were starting to get struck. The weather has been bizarre recently- alternating between summer heat and vicious cold fronts, but at least we've had some much needed rain and the crops seem to be OK. The brilliant yellow of the canola is fading to the feathery green of setting seed and an army of tractors, swathers, headers and field bins are preparing to hit the roads north. The daisies are taking over the training paddock (capeweed if you're a farmer, daisies if you're a romantic). The days are getting longer and I'm clearing off the verandah table in anticipation of warm evenings outside. Oh yeah, and daylight saving is on its way. Boo.
